La Tomatina is an annual festival held in Bunol with its major activity being a tomato fight where participants throw tomatoes at each other for the sheer purpose of having fun. It is held on the last Wednesday of August on the same Week for which the festivities of Bunol are held.
La Tomatina has an intriguing history in that it was begun by a group of young people who were very unconscious of what they were doing to history. On the last Wednesday of August 1945, a group of young people were in the town of Bunol for the Giants and Big-Heads figures parade. The group of young boys decided to have their own place among the crowd which had also come for the parade Showbox Download. In their struggle, one of the participants in the parade fell off and became so angry he started hitting everything in his sight. What followed was that people started pelting each other with tomatoes from a nearby stall.
The very first La Tomatina was ended by the local forces although it was rekindled again in 1946 when the same young group of people picked a pre-arranged quarrel. The only difference was that tomatoes were brought from home. The festival has rules one of them being that no other projectiles apart from tomatoes should be brought and that the tomatoes have to be squashed before throwing so that they do not hurt.
