The Fiesta de Cascamorras takes place annually on the 6th of September in the towns of Guadix and Baza both of which are in the province of Granada, Spain. The two towns which are historical rivals fight for possession of a statue of the Virgen de la Piedad (Our Lady of Mercy).

As stated earlier, Guadix and Baza are two neighboring towns so close that they are often regarded as sisters. However, they have been rivals for as long as they have existed. The story goes that Cascamorras who was a worker from Guadix found a buried statue of the Virgen de la Piedad while working in Baza.
With encouragement from his fellow countrymen in Guadix, Cascamorras attempted to carry the sculpture to Guadix. However, his attempt was intercepted by Bazans who snatched the sculpture before it could reach Guadix.
When Cascamorras returned to his hometown empty-handed, his countrymen who were eagerly waiting for the image were very disappointed and as a response, they viciously pursued the Bazans who had attacked Cascamorras. It said that Cascamorras Showbox Download and his people reconciled but did not manage to get the image which had been taken back to Baza. The Fiesta de Cascamorras is all about commemorating these events and is appropriately named after the hero.
